Dear Air Quality Engineering Employees:
I am writing this letter to thank you for the
MistBuster 500 Electronic Air Cleaner that you manufacture. We are a
machine shop with CNC mills and lathes in about 15,000 square foot of space.
The mist and smoke we had in the shop was just something we put up with.
It was never too bad. Then things changed in our shop in April of
1996. We purchased our first
Swiss lathe, a
Citizen L16. Within
two years, we had three Citizens on the floor producing parts 20 hours a
day, five days a week. We knew we had to begin looking for some type
of air cleaner because the shop was starting to get smoky. We ended up
buying a high-end centrifugal air cleaner. We put this in the rafters
and ran hosing to three of our citizens. It cleaned the air somewhat
satisfactorily but there was still some mist and smoke escaping. Also,
we didn't like the way the hosing looked in the shop and the maintenance was
troublesome having to climb a ladder and work on the unit. When we
ordered our fourth Citizen, we ordered it with a well known centrifugal mist
collector that fit right on the machine. This air cleaner worked okay
but nothing to write home about. When we ordered our fifth Citizen, we
ordered it with the same air cleaner as before. Within a week, we knew
that we had a problem with these centrifugal air cleaners because they
didn't contain the mist or smoke even with a HEPA filter.
In February of 2000, I called a salesman who I
deal with from St. Louis Tool & Supply in Arnold, Missouri. I told him
of the problem. I asked if he represented any mist collector
manufacturers He looked at what we had and told us that he represented
the two companies which we were using, and he had a new company he just
picked up. The new company had a new machine they had just developed
that he thought would work great on our machines. He told be he would
bring one in on a trial basis; and if we didn't like it, he would take it
back.
We connected the MistBuster 500 to one of our
Citizens. It wasn't about to be returned. We had no mist or
smoke coming from the machine or the MistBuster. We now have seven
Citizens and we have five MistBuster 500s. Two of the Citizens still have
the one big centrifugal unit purchased in 1998. Since February, we
have not had to perform any maintenance on the units to date. We still
have no mist or smoke coming from the machines.
To show you that not everything is perfect; on
the last unit we bought, they accidentally shipped us the wrong voltage
unit. I called them and told them about the problem. They were
very apologetic and had a new unit down to me the next day. The
employees love the MistBusters because of how they have cleaned up the air
in the shop. I am planning to purchase more units in the future to put
on our CNC lathes.
Sincerely,
ALLIANCE TOOL COMPANY
