triclosan-coated paper or glass filter fibers, which can harm the
environment when released into the waste stream, with safer,
nontoxic polypropylene. This revolutionary filter media is one of
the least harmful plastics, producing only carbon dioxide and
water as it decomposes. Because polypropylene is waterproof, our
filters naturally resist contamination from bacteria, viruses and
mold, without chemical additives or washes. BlueAir even uses a
special powder coat finish that produces no chemical out-gassing.
Hassle-FREE Air Purifier
Maintenance: BlueAir electronic air cleaners have one of the easiest and
fastest air filters to change. It literally takes only 20 seconds,
we timed it. To make your BlueAir air cleaner work the most effectively
you do have to remember to change the filter 2x a year. In between
filter changes, all you have to do to temporarily clean your
filter is to remove the filter and vacuum the inside of your air
purifier and the filter itself.
Energy Efficient: We
calculated that running BlueAir electronic air cleaners literally
only cost you about 5 cents a day in
electricity. That's less that the cost to run a 60
watt light bulb. Where some HEPA filters can cost you in the
neighborhood of $350 a year, you will be able to sleep well at

Optional Odor and Smoke
Reduction Filter Package: Blueair electronic air cleaners
come
with an optional Smokestop filter kit that contain the standard
nontoxic polypropylene filter along with more activated carbon for
better smoke and odor removal. If you are concerned with minimal
to moderate amounts of odor and/or smoke you will want to get this
optional filter package.
Not a True HEPA: None of
the BlueAir air purifiers use true medical grade HEPA filter
material, which is the gold standard time tested filter material
used since the 1940's. BlueAir uses a different filter media they
call HEPASilent media that when combined with their internal
ionizer does a very good job at filtering airborne particles and
allows much more airflow than traditional filters. True
medical grade HEPA filters remove particles with 99.97%
efficiency. The BlueAir units have also been tested to remove
particles with similar efficiency, so that even with the
different technology we feel that BlueAir comes close to measuring up to true
HEPA like standards.
Air Purifier Size: The
BlueAir units are among the largest electronic air cleaners we
carry. If you are looking for a compact air purifier that you can
place on a bookshelf this is not the one that will fit your needs.
Limited Smoke & Odor Removal: The BlueAir air purifiers odor and
smoke removal technology consists of a smokestop filter that is
impregnated with carbon. It does an acceptable job for minimal
levels of odor and smoke however, if you're concerned with more
than minimal amounts of smoke and odors we suggest you buy an air
purifier with several pounds of granulated carbon, which is better suited for those contaminants.
Forced Filter Replacement:
Most air cleaners in this class and price range do not have
sensors to let you know when it is time to replace the old filter.
However, in order to keep the 10 year warranty active you have to
replace the filter every 6 months - that's two filter changes a
year. The positive side of this is that you will always have
filters that don't get overly clogged. The negative side of this
is depending on your level of usage, you may not need to change
out the filter but you will have to to keep within the guidelines
of the 10 year warranty specifications.
