The ISC LTX312 simultaneously monitors up to 3
gases; Tetra is a 4 gas unit with a variety of sensor combinations that
interchange easily, allowing additional flexibility. Tetra comes standard
with Ingress Protection to IP65. This is an international
classification system for the sealing effectiveness of enclosures of
electrical equipment against intrusion of foreign bodies and moisture.
Tetra's IP65 rating means it is dust-tight and protected from water
projected from a nozzle. LTX312 offers no IP specification.
The LTX312's visual alarm consists of only red
LED's (light emitting diodes) only while Tetra comes equipped with an eye
catching red-blue flashing alarm. Blue light photons have been proven
to have higher energy than red, increasing user visibility and safety.
Some applications require red lights which is why Tetra incorporates red in
its visual alarm.
When it comes to ease of use, Tetra features
simple 1 button operation while LTX312 requires 2 buttons. With a display on top, Tetra is
easy to read with no need to handle the unit. LTX312 has the display
on the front of the instrument, making it more difficult to read in confined
spaces.
LTX312 lasts only 9 hours on full charge using
out of date Nicad battery technology. Tetra performs continuously for
12 hours or more on full charge using Li-ion battery.

Tetra's rugged casing allows it to be dropped
and float in water, saving on repairs and replacement costs. Tetra is
available with a built-in internal pump and is certified valid for use
in temperatures up to 131°F, making it suitable for use in
foundries, steel mills and hot outdoor climates. Tetra is provided
with internal software that conforms to IEC 61508 standards, guaranteeing
software quality and reliability. LTX312 offers no such conformity.
