Benefits of the Crowcon Tetra vs ISC MG140...
The Industrial Scientific Corporation MG140's design requires 2 buttons and a front
display while the Crowcon Tetra features simple 1 button operation and easy to read top
display. The top display allows the user hands free readings while the
unit is attached to a shirt pocket or belt. This is especially
beneficial in confined spaces where maneuverability is an issue.
ISC MG140 visual alarm consists only of red LED's
(light emitting diodes) while the Tetra features a highly visible red-blue
flashing alarm. Blue light uses a higher frequency and more powerful
light photons which have a higher visibility than red. Yet the color
red communicates danger. This is why police cars use predominantly
blue flashing lights with some red.
Industrial Scientific MG140 design features an enamel coated
stainless steel case. This housing has no Ingress Protection
specification. The Crowcon Tetra is protected to IP65 standards, meaning the unit
is sealed against intrusion from dust and foreign objects and protected from
water projected from a nozzle. Tetra can also float if accidentally
dropped in water, making recovery simple. Tetra inner circuitry and
sensors are held in place with a flexible suspension structure for further
shock absorption.
Industrial Scientific MG140 is available for 4 gases only. Tetra
comes with full sensor interchange ability allowing for flexible
combinations of any and all gas sensors.
MG140 lasts for 9 hours on full charge using
dated Nicad battery technology. Tetra offers 12 hours or more of
continuous operating time on full charge using Li-ion battery.
MG140 is available in Diffusion/Hand Aspirator
versions only. A costly separate pump is offered requiring its own
power, adding bulk, weight and extra cost. Tetra has a pumped version
available making it more suitable for applications requiring regular
sampling.
Features of Crowcon Tetra...
Tetra is a durable, innovative personal
multi-gas monitor available with a built-in internal pump. Tetra's rugged
casing contains a flexible internal assembly which protects the boards and
sensors if the device is dropped. Tetra's rugged design and ability to
float help save costs on repairs and replacements. Although it weighs
only about 1 pound, Tetra is one of the most versatile gas detectors on the
market. If your application is in harsh environments such as steel
mills, foundries or hot outdoor climates, Tetra is the instrument for you
because it is certified valid for use in temperatures up to 131°F.
