If you do woodworking and only
have a few workstations going at once, a JET dust collector may be
right for you. If you are working out of a workshop in your
home garage or may have your own small to medium sized workshop and
have sawdust building up, a shop-vac will not be efficient to clean
the air. All saws, sanders planers and lathes create airborne
dust too small to see. You will only see it once it settles on
the walls and surfaces of your shop. These particles are too
small for your body to filter out and when inhaled, will become
permanently lodged in your lung tissue. This is the most
common breathing problem caused by regular woodworking and has a
simple solution.
If you are looking for your first Jet
dust collector, an ambient air cleaner such as an electrostatic
precipitator alone will not solve your problem. Ambient air
filters create an air flow pattern where dust filled air is
continuously swirling around until it is pulled through the unit.
If you let it run, eventually the air will be cleaned, but by then,
you have already been standing there breathing dusty air. Your
first dust collector should use a canister or bag filter to suck up
the majority of dust before it gets into your breathing air.
An ambient air cleaner should only be run when you are finished
working and no one is standing there breathing the air.
If you need something larger or more
powerful than a Jet dust collector we
have other portable dust
collectors available. Also, for a total shop solution, see
our dust collection systems
or call us and we'll point you in the right direction.
