Airborne Particle Counters, most commonly called Laser Particle Counters, are used in a wide variety of fields. Hospital and Labs use them in their cleanrooms to keep track of any airborne particulate that may adversely effect an experiment or other delicate material (sick patients, micro-organism cultures, and other chemical sensitive materials). Some airborne particle counters are used in the agricultural field to detect levels of methane that can be put off by animal waste and byproduct and plant compost. High or concentrated levels of methane can kill farm workers and animals surprisingly quickly. Airborne particle counters can also be used in the computer production field. Microchips are so small and sensitive that one particle smaller than 1/25,000 of an inch in size lying across two components of the microchip can create a short circuit, destroying the microchip. Microchip manufacturers would need an airborne particle counter to monitor the size of particles in the manufacturing area.

Handheld Particle Counters - These work best in cleanrooms and testing small or immediate air flow. In cleanrooms or any other room, they can be held in front of the airflow coming into a room to monitor the size of the particles being allowed to enter the room. Cleanrooms use HEPA filters, mostly, to block very small particles from being allowed to enter a cleanroom. Using an airborne particle counter can monitor the effectiveness of the HEPA filter.

Portable Particle Counters - Portable clean room particle counters can be either integrated into your facility monitoring system (fms) or used as a stand alone system. With endless accessories, these cleanroom particle counters can be used for filter scanning, differential pressure, air velocity, temperature / relative humidity, sampling pressurized air and gases, isokinetic sampling of ambient air, time stamp & store data, print from an internal printer and connect to a PC.

Remote Particle Counters - A wide range of remote particle counters will integrate into a facility monitoring system or cleanrooms. Some have built-in pumps & connect to a remote display, can work with a manifold (for sampling multiple areas), provide temperature/relative humidity, provide real-time continuous data collection, and others are made to do just the one thing you need and everything in between.

Manifolds and Specialty Particle Monitoring - Manifolds allow multiple location particle counter monitoring. Portable surface particle counters leave the testing surface undisturbed. In-process wafer pod particle counters show you contamination your product sees from tooling to transportation.
