 Yes,
the Trion Tabletop Air Purifier moves the air, and yes, it is far
more effective than a stick style ionic home air purifier, but the
most outstanding benefit is never replacing filters. The
filter is the most expensive and critical part of the air purifier.

When Forever Filters become dirty, just rinse, air dry and
stick it back in the
Trion IAQ table top air cleaner.
 The
secret to high airflow using a small, quiet, energy efficient motor
is the non-restrictive design of the Forever Filter. Conventional filters, called media
filters. use cloth or paper (or some other media) woven into fabric.
Air is pulled through the fabric, leaving particles behind.
The fan or blower for media based units (like HEPA) require a very
powerful motor to pull the air through the filter. Air pulled
through a filter is measured in cubic feet per minute (CFM), and
filters create static pressure measured in inches of water. As
a media filter becomes covered in dust, dander, pollen, etc, it
becomes harder for air to flow through. The contaminants
directly block the airflow, creating static pressure that bogs down
the fan. This is why CFM ratings for media units needs to be
so high.
Forever Filters do not block the
air flow. Instead, air flows between aluminum fins.
Static electricity is used to attract airborne particles to the
collection plates.

blows past ionizers, little metal fins that add electrostatic
charge to particles in the air.
- As air reaches number 2, harmful
particles from the air are magnetically sucked onto collection
plates.
As the plates become dirty, air will
continue to flow with minimal restriction, yet particles will
continue to collect just as well. This is because the
plates are spaced far enough apart to allow plenty of dirt,
dust, dander, follicles, smoke particles, etc. to build up
between rinsing.

Forever Filter
See for yourself. The technical name for the Forever
Filter is Electrostatic Precipitator, sometimes called ESP.
Any type of electronic air cleaner uses ESP filters instead of media
filters. Simply search the internet for any of these terms and
you will see that ESP is the preferred technology for commercial and
high end air cleaners.
MERV 13
Minimum Efficiency Reporting Values is the latest way to accurately
test and rate high end and commercial filters. MERV rating
ranks a filter's ability to trap specific sized particles under
varying loads. According to Ron Wilkinson, P.E. "A rating of
MERV 13 corresponds to less than 75 percent arrestance efficiency
for particles 0.3-1 microns, above 90 percent efficiency for
particles 1-3 microns, and above 90 percent efficiency for particles
3-10 microns." The Trion IAQ Tabletop Electronic Air Purifier
was developed and tested before the MERV rating system existed, yet
will correlate to a MERV rating of 13.

 The
Trion Tabletop Electronic Air Purifier is excellent quality for the small
size and appropriate for general household use. At the size of a VCR,
it will fit anywhere. This is probably the smallest purifier you will
find that actually is effective. Most small, portable units this size
and smaller are pointless. Because it uses ESP, this air cleaner will
actually push as much CFM as its fan rating indicates. In order to
have healthy indoor air, a typical home requires about 2-3 complete air
changes per hour. If you have moderate indoor air quality problems in
your home, you may need 4-6 air changes per hour. Be careful when
choosing an air cleaner, this purifier can yield 3 air changes in an
enclosed room of 200 square feet or less (with standard 8 ft ceiling).
That may include a maximum 15'x15' or 10'x20' bedroom, kitchen, study, den,
game room, bathroom, etc. But don't bother using this in a home with
an open floor plan. If there are no walls between rooms, consider the
entire space as one big room (which will need a larger air cleaner).
This air cleaner is perfect to run in a bedroom at night with the door
closed while you sleep. In fact, breathing purified air at night while
your body rests has been known to reduce allergy and asthma symptoms during
the daytime.
