How the Trion Air Boss KES 2 & 4 Work

KES stands for Kitchen Emissions System.  It is a three part filter that cleans the air coming from your kitchen.  First it uses an electrostatic precipitator to filter the largest particles.  Then air passes through a media filter to eliminate the small particles.  Finally air passes through the adsorber to remove gaseous odors.

The unit can integrate into your existing HVAC or use its optional fan package to vent air directly out of the building.

A Fire Suppression System is available for your safety.

How Electrostatic Precipitation Works

As air enters the filter, the particles pass through a high intensity electrical field that imparts an electrical charge to the particles, which range in size from 0.01 micron to 10 microns. The charged particles pass through a series of alternately charged collector plates. Particles are repelled by plates with the same polarity and attracted to plates with opposite polarity — similar to how a powerful magnet works.

How The Media Section Works...

Trion’s media filters use the Interception Filtration Principle. Dirty, polluted air is drawn through the pre-filter to remove larger dust particles. In the case of the KES 2 and KES 4, the electrostatic section is the first stage.  The second stage, micro-glass deep pocket media filter removes submicron particles from the air stream by interception. The small diameter fibers in the filter intercept and retain these small particles while the large surface area of the filter gives long life and low pressure drop. The blower is designed specifically to handle the filtration system at rated CFM over the useful life of the filter.  The Media Section filters 95% (DOP) of particles before sending air to the 3rd section, the Adsorber, where activated carbon filters gaseous odors.
