Crystal-Aire Concealed
Commercial Air Cleaner
|
"...Modular Air Cleaner Customizes to
your air cleaning needs..."
The Crystal-Aire is a concealed
commercial air cleaner that is installed in the ductwork above your
ceiling. This In-duct system is commonly used for smoke and dust;
however, it can be used to filter many annoying particles that may
pollute your air. The Crystal-Aire unit can be used to clean the air
of many rooms using multiple filtering systems.
How Crystal-Aire Works
Most think that all duct systems clean
the air with the HVAC filter that is replaced monthly; however, this
is not true. There are several particles of dust and even smoke that
you may not be able to see that can irritate and aggravate
allergies, respiratory afflictions and even cause colds.

Out of Sight, Out of Mind
Crystal-Aire concealed air cleaners are
specifically designed to remove heavy amounts of smoke, dust,
allergens
and other hazardous irritants such as bacteria and viruses from the
air. Its modules are installed above the ceiling, virtually out of
sight. Only the inlet and outlet grilles are visible, and depending
on your business layout, you have the flexibility to determine the
placement of these grilles to ensure complete and efficient removal
of harmful airborne particles.
Quiet and Cost Effective
Crystal-Aire units cause hardly any
distraction, because they are quiet and discreet. This air purifying
unit is installed above the ceiling, so
it runs more quietly than other large-capacity air cleaners.
Crystal-Aire can also clean several rooms, being that there are many
accessories that are optional within the packages.
This air cleaner can also create a "curtain" of airflow to help
separate smoking and non-smoking sections, when correctly placed. In addition to providing a clean air environment for
your guests, customers and employees, Crystal-Aire can help your
business save money. Using a Crystal-Aire system can help reduce or
even eliminate dirt and dust buildup on the surfaces around your
environment. Crystal-Aire does not just remove the dirty air from
the building by shooting heated or air conditioned air outside, it
recirculates the air, thus reducing your heating and air
conditioning costs.

How ESP Works
Crystal-Aire uses Electrostatic Precipitators (ESP) to
remove particles like smoke, dust, pollen, bacteria, fungi and
viruses from the air. Room air is pulled into the Crystal-Aire unit
and given a positive charge. The air then passes through stacked
plates with a negative charge, this pulls particles in the air to
the plates like magnets. After, the air passes through an activated
carbon filter which removes common odors from the air, leaving only
clean, fresh smelling air behind.

Choose From a Variety of Module Options |
 |
All Crystal-Aire Cabinets
are modular and durable featuring heavy-duty 18 gauge galvanized
steel construction. This modular design is meant to interlock with
another module and designed to be very durable.
Each section is easily accessible for simple routine service and
maintenance. Adapter panels for connecting to
ductwork or other modules are available . |
|
Motor/Blower Module
Every Crystal-Aire unit needs the motor/blower module, which is
quiet and durable, in order to function. This motor/blower pulls air
into an inlet vent, through flexible aluminum ductwork and filters,
then out the outlet vent and into the room. A forward-curved blower
that has cast iron pulleys and sealed ball bearings, provides
continual air movement. This blower is powered by a 1.5 HP motor
which is completely enclosed on an adjustable base for easy
maintenance. This blower is also mounted specifically to reduce the
amount of noise. |

Electrostatic
Precipitation (ESP) Module
Consisting of a prefilter, ionizer, collection cell, and an optional
after-filter and power pack, the ESP module is the most commonly
used with the blower/motor module. The motor/blower pulls room air
through a metal mesh prefilter, which traps large particles like
hair, then the air is given a positive electrostatic charge. The
charged air then passes through stacked plates that are negatively
charged, which pulls the positively charged particles to the plates
like a magnet (these plates can be washed and reused, hello money
saver!). The air could then pass through a 95% HEPA or carbon filter
(optional) to remove bacteria, viruses, and fungi and common odors,
respectively. |

Bag Filter Module
Some building codes will not allow an ESP cleaner, instead a
"bag"-type or "box"-type filter should be used. The Crystal-Aire Bag
filter module has a prefilter just like the ESP module; however, it
also contains a reusable "bag" filter. The bag filter is made up of
media fibers that trap particles. These particles then trap other
particles, creating a virtual traffic jam of pollutants. The bag
filter gets more efficient with use, however may use more energy to
effectively move the air through the bag filter. This bag filter
takes up only a small amount of space. |

|
Box Filter Module
The other option, a "box" filter, operates like the Bag filter
and is comparable in effectiveness; however, in this module, a HEPA
or ASHRAE box-type filter is used for high efficiency and special
needs environments. This module still contains a disposable
prefilter but also has a tightly woven media filter mounted in a
square filter box. HEPA is used in medical facilities, so you know
it cleans the air efficiently, in fact, it cleans the air of 99.97%
of particulates 0.03 microns or larger in size. |

ESP Module with Germicidal Ultraviolet (GUV) Lamps
This GUV module uses ESP filtering system and also an
ultraviolet lamp. An ultraviolet lamp is used in hospital cleanrooms
and sterilizes bacteria, viruses, mold spores, and dust mites. Using
a GUV light also eliminates the need to handle any biohazardous
contaminated filters. UV lights are used in doorways to help
quarantine viruses, the viruses cannot move through doorways without
being sterilized. These filters are very helpful in medical offices
and high traffic areas. |

Odor Control Module
This filter follows the ESP, Bag or Box
filter section of the Crystal-Aire system. It contains 18 lbs. of
activated carbon or potassium permanganate and an after-filter that
may collect any dust from these filters. These modules collect
common odors, such as grease, smoke, and pet smells.
